LCGC at Glastonbury!

Acoustic Tent - John C Scott

The mud didn't hold LCGC back from performing at Glastonbury this year! Live in the Acoustic tent, LCGC's gospel vibe attracted the serious festival goers who forgot about the mud and danced along with the Choir! With songs such as 'Something Inside So Strong' and 'One Love' the crowd was amazed by the sheer power of LCGC and moved by their sound.

At 6:15pm on Sunday 24th June, The London Community Gospel Choir hit the Acoustic Stage at the Glastonbury festival. Hundreds of people packed inside the tent, sheltering from the rain, getting out of the mud, but also intrigued to hear the sounds of LCGC.

LCGC hit the stage with their opening song 'Praise the Lord' which allured the crowd instantly. The eager listeners faces where besieged as LCGC continued with 'Instead of Begging' and 'Oh Happy Day'.

Stephanie Meade, LCGC's Choir Director said 'We really enjoyed the set - it just went too quickly - we wanted to continue into the night!'

After LCGC's set, the crowds were privileged to see artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Kaiser Chiefs and The Who.

Revellers raved through the night despite torrential downpours which left the 1,000-acre Worthy Farm site a quagmire. Fans were refusing to let bad conditions ruin their fun, as they partied in the mud. Long queues formed outside stalls selling Wellington boots and anoraks, as 140,000 people tried their best to forget the rain. Some people even cheered as the heavens opened on the first day, while many bravely faced the conditions - bare chested.

On the final day of the Glastonbury Festival 2007, Michael Eavis had a few words to say about how the Festival has gone this year: “It's gone very well, in spite of the rain and in spite of the mud. The drains have actually worked, believe it or not. Someone called me from Spain and said they would swap all the sun they had for the Glastonbury culture".
