Don Lewis arrives in the UK
World-renowned musician Don Lewis is visiting the UK in December, courtesy of Roland, to stage a one-off concert with the London Community Gospel Choir. The concert, which is taking place at the Cambridge Guildhall on December 10th , is part of his whistle-stop world tour demonstrating the new VP-550 Vocal and Ensemble Keyboard.
Don has a varied and lengthy music career, having played for Dr Martin Luther King, and worked with such greats as Quincy Jones, Sergio Mendez and Michael Jackson. He has written scores for film and television productions and composed music for commercial videos for such clients as Nissan, Pacific Telephone and Digital Equipment Corp.
The LCGC are known for their up-tempo gospel flair, swing beat, R ‘n' B, traditional and soulful arrangements, with their invigorating choreography and vocal gymnastics. They have sung on the soundtrack for Walt Disney's “The Lion King”, performed for Nelson Mandela during his famous visit to London , supported Madonna on stage during Live 8, opened at main stage Glastonbury and put gospel for the first time on the BBC Proms Map.
But let's face it… not every musician can afford to hire a choir for their gigs or recording sessions. Sometimes just finding a qualified background singer or two can be a chore. The Roland VP-550 Vocal & Ensemble Keyboard provides the perfect solution. Much more than a traditional vocoder or harmonizer, the VP-550 uses Roland's breakthrough vocal modelling technology to bring the highest quality, interactive vocal sounds to a dedicated instrument. Spectacular classical choirs, soulful gospel choirs, pop and jazz voices, male and female ensembles, vintage vocoder and lush string/vocal hybrids are just some of the sounds available from this amazing instrument.
