06/08 - LCGC perform LIVE at the Glastonbury Festival!! The London Community Gospel Choir rocked Glastonbury on Sunday evening Live in the packed out Acoustic Tent. The crowd loved dancing along to songs such as 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot', 'This Little Light of Mine' and 'One Love'. One crowd member said 'This is the best performace that I've seen all weekend!' and another said 'The set was unbelievable! The music just lifts your spirit". Rev Bazil Meade said 'Performing at Glastonbury is always a great experience - a great vibe! We love just sharing our music and spreading our positive message at the festival." 06/08 - LCGC at Glastonbury Festival!! The London Community Gospel Choir will be performing LIVE this Sunday at the Glastonbury Festival. The Acoustic Stage will see LCGC rockin the tent with their gospel vibe. Rev Bazil Meade said "Glastonbury is always such a great festival to perform at - the Choir are very excited. We always attracted a huge crowd - it's fantastic to see the crowd joining in with our music". LCGC will be performing at 7:45pm in the Acoustic Tent on Sunday 29th June. 06/08 - LCGC Experience Day Do you know someone who is a BIG gospel fan? Now you can buy them an LCGC Gift Experience that will allow them to spend the day with The London Community Gospel Choir! 04/08 - Europe Sings Gospel! LCGC have the pleasure of inviting two guest Gospel Choir's from Europe to share in a weekend of training and workshops! Source of Joy Gospel Choir from Stockholm, Sweden, and Care Gospel from Norway are joining LCGC from 1st to 3rd May - ending the weekend with a big concert at The Tabernacle Chuch in Lewisham, London. The concert will feature both Source of Joy and Care Gospel before the host Choir, LCGC, finish the evening! LCGC's Choir Principal Bazil Meade said 'The aim of the weekend is to inspire, teach and motivate these Choir's - showing them what British Gospel is all about! It will be a fantastic weekend!". 03/08 - LCGC Supports Leona Lewis! The London Community Gospel Choir have supported Leona on BBC's Sport Relief and Dancing on Ice. Leona is currently promoting her current single 'Footprints in the Sand'. The official song for Sport Relief, sung by X Factor winner Leona Lewis, was inspired by the famous poem Footprints. Footprints in the Sand is one of the tracks on the singer’s new double-side single released this week. The track was adopted as the official song for Sport Relief, a major charitable endeavour which harnesses the power and passion of sport to change lives for the better.

09/07 - Bazil Meade to feature at Drummers Conference! Bazil Meade will be attending 'Heart to Drum' on the 22nd of this month. Working closely with the Psalm Drummers, Bazil has just finished recording guest vocals on one of their latest tracks. The brand new song will be performed at this Christian event! If you are a Christian drummer in the UK then you can't miss this conference!! There will be great performances and testimony from special guests Zoro and Tommy Aldridge from the USA along with other special drummer guests. 09/07 - RIP Julian Warrington LCGC Choir Member Charlene Grant was met with devastating news as she learnt that her father was was stabbed to death in his home Monday 3rd September about 2:20pm. Five white men and one black man broke into his home on Paulet Road in Camberwell, London, stabbed him repeatedly and left him to die. All of the men have since been arrested by the Police. LCGC would like to express our deepest sympathy to our member Charlene and her family. As we uphold Charlene in our thoughts and prayers we ask that you too will pray for our LCGC member.
08/07 - Things to Try Before You Die! Singing with LCGC LCGC were visited by a Australian Film Crew earlier in the year recording the programme 'Things to Try Before You Die". Listing the top 30 attractions in the UK, singing with The London Community Gospel Choir was highlight number 15. 08/07 - LCGC at the Nelson Mandela Statue Unveiling! The statue of Nelson Mandela will be unveiled in Parliament Square on Wednesday 29 August. The nine foot bronze statue will honour Nelson Mandela as one of the greatest fighters for freedom in the 20th century. It will also be a permanent statement of London's abhorrence of Apartheid and every other form of racism. LCGC have been invited to take part in the service - to read the press release click here

07/07 - LCGC sing with Beverley Knight on Radio 2! Beverley Knight is hosting a new series of 'Beverley's Gospel Nights' on Radio Two this month. LCGC were invited to the BBC Maida Vale Studio's to record some songs for the show. The series features the very best in gospel music and will give enlightening insights into some of the world's greatest musicians and singers whose lives have been informed by gospel music. 06/07 - LCGC Supports Youth Event in Birmingham The London Community Gospel Choir will be supporting 'Youth with Purpose' a celebration performance by young people working with The Academy of Gospel Music. The 200 strong choir drawn from schools, churches and youth groups around the Midlands, will be performing at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on 18th July. LCGC's aim is to inspire and motivate the children to sing 'Gospel'. Rev Bazil Meade said 'This event is a great opportunity for LCGC to help enthuse this young generation to use their talents to create positive music. We pray that we will be an inspiration to them." 06/07 - LCGC at Glastonbury!! The mud didn't hold LCGC back from performing at Glastonbury this year! Live in the Acoustic tent LCGC's gospel vibe attracted the serious festival goers who forgot about the mud and danced along with the Choir! 05/07 - LCGC to sing at the Concert For Diana Prince William and Prince Harry will mark the 10th anniversary of their mother's death with an event to celebrate her life. The Concert for Diana on 1st July 2007, which would have been Diana's 46th birthday, will be one of the first events to take place in the new Wembley Stadium. 05/07 - Bazil Meade travels to Uganda Our Choir Principal Bazil Meade has travelled to Uganda to visit the work of the Charity 'Fountain of Peace'. The five day trip will allow Bazil to meet the Charity's workers, observe the projects that they maintain and meet the Ugandan Children that they help. Fountain of Peace are currently constructing a new purpose built children's home in Kyenjojo, Western Uganda. The home will meet the needs of local children by providing education facilities, health clinic, food and clothing all within a stable and loving environment, while at the same time impact the local community. Bazil told us "This trip is a great opportunity for me. I will be reporting my experiences back to the Choir and we will discuss further how we can support this Charity on a long-term basis. I would like to send the Choir Members out in small teams to offer practical help to The Fountain of Peace Foundation - we want to do a lot more to support them." 03/07 - LCGC Celebrate the Abolition of Slavery in Ghana! Sunday 25th March saw the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade. The London Community Gospel Choir were invited to share in one of the most significant celebrations at Elmina Castle in Ghana. Elmina Castle was the first European slave-trading post in sub-Saharan Africa. Hundreds of locals watched on a giant screen the castle as politicians, poets and musicians attempted to make sense of the past. LCGC brought songs to the celebratons such as 'Oh When the Saints Go Marching In' , 'Oh Happy Day' and 'I Go to the Rock' - to read the full BBC News review please click here
03/07 - LCGC travel to Ghana The British Council are hosting a big show at Elmina Castle in Ghana to celebrate 200 years since the abolition of slavery. The London Community Gospel Choir have been invited to take part in the celebrations which are taking place this Sunday 25th March. The event will be shown on large screens around the world! Elmina Castle, known then as the slave castle, is one of over twenty castles built along the shoreline of the Gold Coast (now known as Ghana). The Gold Coast was one of the richest markets for slave traders during the peak of the slave trade. Hundreds of thousands of captives passed through the dungeons of Elmina Castle, and were shipped off, like commodities into the Americas and Caribbean against their wishes. 01/07 - Happy New Year from Bazil Meade & LCGC! 2006 was a very busy year for the Choir. We sang at over 70 weddings, supported 10 artists with backing vocals, sang on 17 recording sessions, was invited to over 40 corporate parties, had 6 TV appearances, 25 overseas tours, sang at 7 funerals, 6 birthday parties, and 1 Bar Mitzvah! we are looking forward to being just as busy in 2007. 12/06 - Happy Christmas from Bazil Meade & LCGC The period in which we celebrate Christmas seems to be getting shorter as the years go by. Maybe it's because life is busier for us during this time and this hectic activity will render most of us exhausted by the 25th - the day when we would prefer to be most energetic, with healthy appetites to devour the quantities of food being prepared in our homes for the celebration... I hope for real enjoyment and deep down satisfaction for all of us. LCGC have been busy spreading good tidings and giving joy to all during this Christmas period through song. LCGC's efforts would be a waste of time and energy if we did not enjoy giving. For giving is the act that christmas is based on: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son". Do not limit your giving to December only, but rather aim to make it a part of your act of worship on a daily basis...."thoughout the year". LOVE..PEACE..KINDNESS..MEEKNESS... RESPECT.. GENTLENESS.. 11/06 - LCGC on the Channel Island Tour LCGC had a fantastic time touring the Channel Islands at the end of October this year. The tour allowed the Choir to visit Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney. 10/06 - Rev Bazil Meade Celebrating Black History Month at the Polka Theatre LCGC's founder and Choir Principal, Rev Bazil Meade has been working with The Polka Theatre this month in helping to prepare them for their latest show - 'Stamping, Shouting and Singing Home'.
